Deal verification policy
Last updated February 2026
Every deal on Penny Deals carries a verification state, and that state is recorded per stage so you can see exactly what was checked.
The stages
Candidate — discovered by our 24/7 scanners or submitted by a member, not yet checked.
AI screening — the listing is parsed for store, product, price and regular price, and scored for plausibility. Implausible discounts are held back rather than published.
Price check — the current price is compared against recorded price history and the stated regular price, so a "discount" against an inflated list price does not pass.
URL check — the retailer link must resolve and the product must still be reachable.
Duplicate check — near-identical live deals are merged so the feed is not padded.
Verified — every stage passed above our confidence threshold. Needs review — a human decides. Rejected — never published. Expired — retired from the feed.
What Verified means — and does not
Verified means the checks above passed at the time shown on the deal page. Retail prices, stock and clearance cycles move fast, and penny finds are YMMV by nature: availability depends on the individual store and its markdown schedule. Always confirm the price at the register or at checkout.
Member submissions
Submitted deals enter the same pipeline instead of publishing instantly. You can track yours in your account submissions, including the reviewer note if it was declined.
Expiry and re-checking
Live deals are re-checked on a schedule and by price history. Deals that fail a re-check, pass their expiry date or get credible member reports are unpublished automatically or by our team. Reported deals jump the queue.
